GOLFERS KNOW...
AFTER YOUR THREE WOOD HIT THE WILDWOODS!
THE WILDWOODS, NJ-With wide, sandy beaches, a Boardwalk that has more rides and amusements
than Disneyland, restaurants and nightlife that no other resort can rival, an abundance of
lodging facilities, and nearly 20 nearby public and private golf courses, the Wildwoods
are the perfect choice for those who love the links.
The Wildwoods, within a short driving distance (by car) to some of the best golf courses in the Mid-Atlantic region, is the perfect vacation spot for families that have one or more golfers in their midst.
While Mom and the kids (or Dad and the kids) enjoy the beach during the day, Dad (or Mom) can head out to tackle the area's many championship golf courses. Golf aficionados will find lodging accommodations in every price range in the Wildwoods from the island's more than 20,000 available rooms, and their choice of dining styles from among hundreds of fine restaurants in the Wildwoods' area. After the golfing day is done, the Wildwoods offer a wide variety of entertainment and nightclub choices, or families can stroll the island's world-famous Boardwalk and enjoy the dazzling rides on the resort's six amusement piers.
Taking advantage of the sun and surf on the Wildwoods' huge sand beaches, as always, costs nothing at all.
Area golf courses open to the public include Avalon Golf and Country Club, Cape May National Golf Club, and Ponderlodge Golf Club, all in Cape May County. Public golf courses in nearby Atlantic County include: Greate Bay Country Club, Blue Heron Pines, Buena Vista Country Club, Green Tree Golf Course, Brigantine Golf Links, Mays Landing Golf Club, Pomona Golf and Country Club, and Marriott's Seaview Golf Club. Cohanzik Country Club and Eastlyn Golf Club are public courses just a short drive away in Cumberland County.
There are also several private and semi-private golf courses in the area, such as the Wildwood Golf and Country Club, and Stone Harbor Country Club, which are available for play by members of clubs belonging to the Philadelphia Golf Association.
There are several nine-hole golf courses in the area, including the B.L. Englund Recreation Center in Beesley's Point, at the northern tip of Cape May County, Fernwood in Egg Harbor Township, Latona Golf Club in Buena, and an 18-hole Par 3 course in Mays Landing, Victor's Par 3.
Locally, the Wildwoods' immense beach serves as a superb practice area for the evertroubling technique of playing sand traps. After sunbathing and swimming hours (typically 5 p.m.), it's common to see golfers practicing their sand-wedge play on the beach. The Wildwoods also took advantage of being home to New Jersey's most expansive beachfront by creating "the world's largest sand trap" with an annual golf tournament planned this May.
No matter what your golfing handicap, there are opportunities for golfers -- from beginners to pros -- throughout the greater Wildwood area. Combined with the unique entertainment, amusement and environmental features of the resort, the Wildwoods are the perfect vacation destination for golfers and their families.
